Google brings its Photo Sphere Camera app to the iPhone and iPad

Google Photo Sphere Camera app is now available on the iPhone and iPad

GOOGLE'S Photo Sphere Camera app is no longer an Android exclusive, as the firm has also made it available on the iPhone and iPad.

Google released Photo Sphere Camera for iOS on Tuesday, enabling iPhone and iPad users to make use of the 360-degree camera application that previously was limited to Android devices, having made its debut alongside the Nexus 4 smartphone.

While iDevice users can already take panoramic pictures using Apple's own camera app, Photo Sphere cranks this up a level. The app allows users to capture full, 360-degree photos by taking multiple images and stitching them together, with the final result rendering in a "sphere" shape. These images can then be navigated by swiping your finger across the screen.

Google encourages that these Spheres are then uploaded to Google Maps Views, allowing others to explore the images. There's also the option to share them via email, message or social networks.

"Create beautiful 360º images, and publish them to Google Maps. Photo spheres empower you to look up, down, and all around to revisit the amazing places you've encountered - and share them with anyone," the app description reads.

The Photo Sphere Camera app for iOS can be downloaded for free now and is compatible with iOS 7 or later, although Google notes that it will not work on the iPhone 4.
It might have been on the iTunes App Store for less than a day, but the Photo Sphere Camera app for iOS has already received a four-and-a-half star rating.
